Membership Open to Everyone!



Anyone is welcome to join the Daily Sketch Challenge Group. Check the DSC DA Blog every day Monday-Friday for a new subject to draw and post.

A quick run down on how it's done... you dedicate approximately 30 min to a sketch on the day's subject matter. You cant just submit any old sketch and it's best not to submit finished work (although it wont necessarily be rejected). The idea is to promote warm-up sketching to free your limbs and prepare you for better work right after or even to create roughs for future finishing of them. Hope that makes sense. :)

The DSC DA Group is an off shoot of the DSC at Outcast Studios' Forums [link] where members have been participating for years. Now we're branching out to DA in an effort to catalog the participation and bring this great tool to other artists.

Black Mask is a very powerful crimelord in Gotham City.  Roman Sionis is a ruthlessly effective criminal mastermind.  Usually, he controls the False Face Society, named after his obsession with masks.  The mask he wears is ebony carved from his mother’s coffin.

Today your challenge is to draw THE BLACK MASK for about 30 minutes!

The deadline for this challenge is Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2pm ET (U.S.)!

Felicia Hardy is the Black Cat, a cat burglar and sometimes vigilante with impressive fighting skills and the ability to alter pobabilities--giving one bad luck. Originally concieved by Marv Wolfman as a foil for Spider-Woman, he retooled her original story for his run as the writer of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. Soon, Spidey had a new love interest and opponent all in one.

Today your challenge is to draw THE BLACK CAT for about 30 minutes!

I was wondering if "old" sketches done for DSC are allowed to be added at a later date as long as each was uploaded on a different day? I drew some at the beginning of the year and end of last year but I find it hard to both draw it, upload it, and submit it to the group all in one day. I also use my camera to get the images onto the computer so I need sunlight to take the pics limited me to only being able to draw them in the day and take the photo then. :( So I was wondering if it was allowed and all.

We tend to accept them unless it's so long ago none of us remember them. Also, so far as I'm aware, there's no 'per day' limit, so whack 'em all up there!

I feel bad that Im missing too many DSC but does it help if I say it's cause I'm putting the free time I have into my CBR piece?

It certainly does--that's what I'm doing! No worries though, the DSC is only for warming up or doing work when you don't have other things to draw. :)

Right here on the right side of the home page. Just next to the activity widget. It's titled "Membership Open to Everyone." They are also in every journal entry about the subject for the day.

I'm happy with the drawing challenges that you already give us but I think it might be interesting if some required a bit more creativeness?
Something ambiguous such as telling us to draw a superhero with a costume based on a bulldog, or a villain based on a .....towel or something.

Ok, doesn't have to be that outlandish (although that would be interesting anyway), but something other than a pre-existing figure.

your submitting process has broken down , the submission should be automatic approval , it's member only and its a 30 mins sketch, why it should take 3 vote for the sketch to be accepted , and some people have to wait a week if not more to get approved ? who knows . There is only 2 folders , and its all sketches , we are not suppose to critique anything . IF the process is automatic , you can clear the back logs problems once and for all . With the delay now we are seeing , people is going to lose interest and stop submitting and leave the group, that's my 2 cents .

I'm a member for a bit more than a year. There never was problem till the "offical" journal, promoting the group. The group size exploded to 4-6times its original size. So its not yet optimal for the new situation. It just takes time. thats all. I dont think its an actual problem. This group is about training, not promotion. You could also submit your art over at outcaststudios.com
